The Ontario International Canadian School of Dubai intends to bring the best practices of Canadian education to the students of the Emirates.The specific areas of classroom instruction will include:
The curriculum and instructional materials for Arabic, Islamic Studies and UAE Social Studies will be that required by the Ministry of Education and students will be instructed by teachers properly trained and certificated in the United Arab Emirates.
The Canadian curriculum will be that provided by the Ontario Ministry of Education with the specific curriculum requirements detailed in ‘by subject’ documents each of which provides a performance assessment rubric for use by the classroom teacher.
Beyond the classroom experience, the school will offer to its students, a range of enriched learning experiences outside of the regular school day. Opportunities in the visual and performing arts, sports, communications, scientific inquiry and the like will be made available.
Students will be expected to participate in activities with social justice objectives, pursue practical solutions to environmental concerns, participate in projects which seek to broaden their world view and engage their counterparts internationally in student competitions, information sharing and even exchanges.
